A Great Weekend of Animal Encounters!

A whole bunch of fantastic animal encounters completed over this weekend, in Saul, Gloucester, Cheltenham and Bristol! We've also had a new arrival to our animal menagerie - we'll take some photos soon and post them on our blog and facebook page!

Harriet our African Sulcata Tortoise

Wow, what a difference 4 and half years makes! This is a photo of Harriet the sulcata tortoise a couple of months after we got her back in 2008, and another of her just a few days ago! We'll be needing a wheelbarrow to move her around in a couple more years....

Our animals visit Archway school!

Back in April, we spent a whole day doing six animal encounters at Archway school, for their 'Audacious Animals' week being held in the school library. It was a great day, with almost 200 students being able to meet with our animals!

We've recently had a camera crew over from Image Impact, a production company specialising in wildlife documentaries, to film our baby snakes hatching. Some great footage was taken of the hatchlings taking their first breath and emerging from the egg, which will be used in a documentary about Chinese snakes! We shall keep everyone informed as to when it will be aired.

Nigel Marven at Wild kids HQ

We recently had our friend, wildlife TV presenter Nigel Marven, over for a visit. Nigel is a big fan of tortoises and has his own 'herd' of giant Aldabra tortoises back at home. Here he is with Harriet, our African spurred tortoise!

Mini-Beast Rentals!

We are now offering Mini-Beast rentals! Are you interested in teaching your child about responsible animal ownership, but don't want a long-term pet? Perhaps you want to test the water to see how your child responds to having a pet before taking the plunge?

Our Mini-Beast rentals are perfect as a fun activity for educating children in schools or nurseries!

You can now choose from one of our many amazing bugs, including cockroaches, millipedes, stick insects and giant snails, to hire! We provide a suitable (and escape-free) enclosure, food, and care sheet.

All our hired animals are friendly, hardy and robust - perfect for inquisitive children!

A new arrival - Burt the marine toad!

We had a new arrival today at Wild Kids HQ - Burt the Marine toad! These toads get huge, and Burt's not quite fully grown yet! He will be settling down for the next few weeks, before joining us with our animal encounters.

Another great animal encounter!

We headed over to Bussage in Stroud, Gloucestershire, today for an animal party at Millie's 9th birthday! Everyone had a great time, and after getting home, we put Harriet out in the sun to enjoy some fresh air with her feathery friends!

Weekend days for May are booking up fast - we are now fully booked on the following dates: Sun 5th, Sat 11th, Sat 18th, Sun 19th, Sat 25th. We still have available slots on all other dates, but please be aware we are limited to a maximum of three encounters per day!

A New Arrival!

We recently picked up this beautiful little female panther chameleon to add to our group! She's only a few months old, and still has plenty of growing to do. Panther chameleons are know for there beautiful colouration, which she will begin to develop at around 6 months of age. Unfortunately, females aren't quite as colourful as the males!
